Illusion
Devon stared at the pictures atop the fireplace mantle. Lots of smiling faces, nothing more.
“Do you recognize any of these people?” Marcia asked.
“No,” he replied.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. Should I?”
“Absolutely not. Everything is perfect,” she touched his right temple, deepening the trance. His family was an illusion, only Mistress was real.
How this story came to be
Just a little dark impromptu that came to me late at night. I don’t like memory play as a whole but it makes for some interesting (and sometimes scary) storylines. This is one of them, I guess.
