Good as New
Nicholas lay unconscious on the ground.
“We’re losing him!” Marie declared.
“Nonsense! Zap him again!” Alice commanded.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. Just wait for it.”
“Okay.”
Marie followed her instructions, the electricity coursing through his body. With a spark, the chip inside his brain rebooted.
“Good as new,” Alice chirped.
Slave Nicholas opened his eyes.
How this story came to be
I wish I could say the title applies to me, but no, still not there yet. For the most part, I get things done but I continue to be slower than usual and ideas aren’t connecting as well as they used to for now. Exercising the mind is certainly good for me but I continue to be careful.
Anyhow, my sleep was somewhat erratic last night. I woke up many times during the night and dreamed a lot, too. One of my dreams involved a computer chip and the other had something to do with the moment when I wake up after hitting my head on the floor. From what I remember, which is not much, I combined elements of the two to create this snippet.
