Darren had spent most of his life pretending everything was fine.
He did it when Jackie cheated on him.
He did it when she posted her indiscretions online.
He did it when he put a bullet between her eyes.
He’s still doing it as she’s rising from the dead, dark magic flowing through her veins.
How this story came to be
An impromptu that took a dark turn as I was writing it. Confidence can be shattered in many ways. This is one of the worse ones, I guess. It’s a good thing there’s no such thing as dark magic, right? Hmm, right? Oh, fuck!
