Melissa’s new app was a copy of the Watermelon game but with hypnotic spirals instead of fruits.
“You could have tried to be original…” Zach scoffed.
“I’d rather be efficient,” she smirked. “Have you noticed that the bigger they get the easier you fall?”
He nodded gently, his mind being played from the inside out.
How this story came to be
Oh, look, another Japanese-inspired piece! You’ve seen it, right? The Watermelon game? The cute little puzzler has taken the whole world by storm mostly because of streamers and whatnot. I’ve played it too (about half a dozen rounds, nothing more, and it’s fun but challenging a perfect distraction for busy days.
As I was playing for a couple of minutes after dinner today, I imagined what would it be like if the colorful fruits we need to merge to create bigger ones and then clear the board, were replaced by animated spirals each one more entrancing than the others, and the concept for this one was born. Would you play such a game to lose your mind and free will in the process?
