Spell… H-A-L-L-O-W-E-E-N 2026 – Day 24

Spell… H-A-L-L-O-W-E-E-N is back! Let’s enjoy another month of supernatural fun.
Going extra creepy again with this small tale about possession. Only one week left until Halloween!
Borrowing it
Nick woke with her tongue already tasting the inside of his mouth.
In the mirror, his reflection tilted its head first. Then it smiled, and the smile kept widening long after his own muscles should have stopped. When he pressed a hand to the glass, the glass pressed back.
By midnight, his skin felt rented. Something shifted beneath it, rearranging the architecture of his face while he watched. His hands moved without permission, carving elegant loops into the plaster with a broken mirror shard. The words bled slowly down the wall: I have always been the one wearing the skin. You were only borrowing it.
He tried to force his lungs to scream. The she-devil exhaled through them instead, and made his spine arch. Memories came away in wet handfuls. His name. The shape of his childhood room. The last time he felt alone in his own head. Slowly, she filled every hollow place with herself.
On Halloween night, he locked the doors and pressed a knife to his throat, but his hand refused to move.
Behind his eyes she leaned close, almost affectionately, and whispered against the inside of his skull: “You don’t get to leave until I am finished with what is mine.”
Then she made him set the knife down, turn off the lights, and wait in the dark for whatever came next.
