You Never Listen

Tim entered the apartment after an exhausting shift, to find his wife, Linda, eating chips while watching TV. “The usual, he thought.”

However, there was something different. There was an extra maple in the living room.

“When did you buy this?” he asked.

“I didn’t,” she replied. “That’s not a maple.”

“Then what is it? A hyper-realistic sculpture?”

“Nope.”

“Is it cake?”

“Not that either.”

“Tell me what it is, please.”

“Oh, that’s a demon I summoned a couple of hours ago because I was bored. I wouldn’t touch it, if it were you.”

“Very funny,” he snorted. “I bet you used my credit card like you always do. Since I’m going to have to pay for it, I might as well try the goods.

Tim took of his jacket and sat. Immediately, he found himself dissolving, trapped by hellish jaws.

“See? No wonder out marriage sucks! You never listen!” Linda exclaimed.

She kept eating her chips and changed the TV channel.
