Robot Batteries
Lucas followed Gloria past the cubicles of his new workplace and shuddered. Everyone inside them was sitting with their eyes closed as if they were sleeping.
“What is this?” he asked.
“They’re recharging. Robot batteries don’t last forever,” the manager replied.
“Robot batteries?” he gulped.
The conversion chamber awaited at the end of the hallway.
How this story came to be
How do you rest after a head trauma? Well, in my case that meant watching TV and sleeping. I slept a lot. I also dreamed a lot. This piece was inspired by one of those dreams though I suppose the subject matter is more like a nightmare (to me at least). Robotization has never been my thing, but maybe it’s yours and if that’s the case…
