A little bit of witchcraft/voodoo for day 27. I thought of callling this piece RIPorting for Duty but decided one pun today was enough.
Reporting for Duty
“Sargeant Barnes reporting for duty, Ma’am!”
“Welcome back. soldier,” Agnes retorted. “I have an assignment of utmost importance for you. Your former fiancée is in possession of one of my tomes and refuses to return it. You will go to her house right now and retrieve it no matter what. That means no witness if it comes to that, is that clear?”
“Yes, Ma’am!”
“Good. Be on your way then.” She laid down the accursed doll on the table and smiled as the reanimated corpse walked out the door.
