Obedient Subjects
John looked at Mary. Her eyes were glowing green.
“So, you’re a bug now?” He spat.
“No, silly,” she replied. “I’m a Queen and every queen needs obedient subjects.”
“I’ll never bow down before you.”
“You have no choice.”
He felt the sting on the back of his neck and screamed. The possession had begun.
How this story came to be
I mentioned recently I was watching some shows on HBO. After finally catching up on Supernatural and watching the final season in its entirety, I decided to check its strange prequel/sequel, The Winchesters. I’ve already watched 11 episodes of the 13 in the season, so I’m almost done.
In this show, the main villains are a type of otherworldly monster known as the Akrida. They’re basically giant insects that can control/possess humans by hitting them with their stingers, leaving a three-pronged mark on the back of their necks. This is basically a form of possession as well as the human puppets become powerless after the fact and one of the tenets of this challenge is mind control, so…
Anyway, this piece is my little homage to the show. If you’re wondering whether I’m enjoying it or not, I’ll just say it’s okay. It’s no masterpiece but it’s good enough for a bit of brain-dead entertainment. No second season has been confirmed so far, so perhaps these 13 episodes are all that there ever will be, so might as well enjoy the ride while it lasts.
