Hypnotic Ghosts
Eric and Mia’s hypnotic relationship was coming to an end.
“I’m going to miss this,” he said.
“No, you’re not,” she replied.
“What? No! Don’t make me forget.”
“I must. Build your life anew first, free from hypnotic ghosts. You’ll remember everything when the time’s right.”
“Yes, Goddess,” he sighed as his mind went blank.
How this story came to be
After yesterday’s dirty piece, I wanted to write something with a melancholic vibe to it because the strength of this daily challenge has always resided in the ability to constantly switch topics while still remaining true to the spirit of the whole thing. Variety really is the spice of life.
Anyway, I knew right away this was the story I wanted but putting it down in only 55 words turned out to be trickier than expected. I had to trim about twenty words from the original concept and it’s always harder to reduce while keeping the same meaning than to expand a concept with a few more words or descriptions. Nonetheless, I think I was successful one more time.
