A Black Cat

Helen had always been a dog person until the day she adopted a cat. It was a small black furball with liquid blue eyes and the cutest meow she had ever heard. She found the poor creature hiding behind a trash can at the beginning of the month of October and took pity on it. The kitten was a slippery catch at first but once it came in contact with her luscious blonde hair, he calmed down and purred all the way to a warm bed, a litter box, and the best food money could buy. Helen loved him right away and was ready to do whatever it took to keep him safe. That night, the furry baby slept in her bed, snuggling against her bosom and the world was perfect.

She named the kitten Boo and took him to the vet the following morning. The examination showed he was a perfect baby boy of approximately five weeks old and his sweet temper won over everyone’s hearts. With no conditions to be worried about, Helen returned home but when she got there…

… Mama was waiting.

All the Legends…

“She’s dead, Jim! We need to get out of here now!” his older brother said.

“NO!” Jim screamed. “I didn’t see a body. She could still be alive.”

“With all that blood? There’s no way. I’m sorry, I really am but if we don’t leave this place, we’ll be next. Come on!”

It was a scene straight out of a horror movie. Twin brothers Jm and Rick had visited the old Willam’s hotel at the request of Jim’s girlfriend, Marisa. The twenty-one-year-old college student wanted to shoot a documentary about supernatural urban legends and what better place to start than the one place everyone said was haunted? Rick didn’t want to go but he could never say no to his brother just like he couldn’t refuse the love of his life no matter what.

The trio entered the derelict building on a Saturday night at approximately 11 p.m.

Choices

Hello. I see you’ve finally come to. It took a while but that’s okay. Traumas like these aren’t resolved overnight, and this was your first time after all. We have a lot to talk about. Let’s start with the obvious.

If you’re wondering where you are and how you got here, this is a limbo of sorts, and you’re here because you died. Yeah, it happened about six months ago in Earth Standard Time but it must feel like yesterday to you. I don’t know all the details surrounding your demise – something about a car crash, I think – but the good news is that this is not the end. We go on for as long as we want and that’s when the real fun begins.

So… what are your options, my friend? The first is reincarnation, of course. You can choose to have your immortal soul reborn in another body and go through the same growing process once more.

Doggie

Matthew whimpered on the bedroom floor, his naked body covered in sweat. He was alone in the house, with the yellow full moon outside the window as the sole witness to his violent transformation. Thick brown and gray hairs were beginning to show underneath his skin while sharp canines glistened under the lamplight. Inside his head, an ominous feminine voice was slowly changing his thoughts. He listened and cried.

“… and by now, you’re realizing that there’s no stopping this curse. Men are weak but the beast is strong, and it always wins. Feel your blood boiling and your nails turn into claws. You crave the thrill of the hunt and the howling that never ends. This has always been your destiny and the night will make it permanent. Stop fighting the inevitable and give in.”

Matthew bit his tongue, his bloodshot eyes fixated on the foldable smartphone forgotten under the bed. It was still playing Mistress Gloria’s latest Halloween fantasy but it was supposed to be just that, a little hypnotic adventure to fuck with his perception during the Spooky Season, nothing more.
