Broken Clock

Amelia’s dad frowned when he saw the 18th-century clock displayed at her house. It had never worked properly, and its design was definitely overkill.

“Why do you keep this old thing around?” He asked.

“Oh, it’s just a reminder for your mind…” The mid-twenties redhead caressed his scalp.

“Huh?”

“Please complete the following rhyme for me: broken clock…”

“… mental lock…”

“… night or day…”

“… I must obey.”

“Daddy, I asked you to come here today because I need to renew my wardrobe. What do you have to say about that?”

“How many credit cards do you need?”

She emptied his wallet and left him staring at the wall.
