Bonus Story – Kendra’s Bell

It happened around Thanksgiving. I had taken some time off work to visit Mom back home when Dean arrived in the city, unannounced and with an exotic beauty by his side. Her name was Kendra. She had Asian traits, long ebony hair, sultry eyes and lips, and an almost perfect silhouette. She looked like a model, standing almost eight inches taller than him in flats. Everything about her screamed high maintenance but also trouble and that was the first red flag.

She was not his type and all, and I should know. I don’t like saying this out loud, but Dean always had a penchant for sweet, demure, and submissive women. He shied away from any type of involvement with strong-willed women because he didn’t want an equal but someone who admired him and wanted to do everything in their power to please him.

Imagine my surprise when his new girlfriend was the exact opposite of his natural inclinations, a fierce and dominant force of nature dressed in tight leather and with an iron grip on him. I noticed straight away that he was no longer the same person I’d known all my life. Not only did he always walk three steps behind her, but he was also constantly stealing glances at her whenever he said something as if he was afraid his words might offend her somehow. It was weird and particularly unnerving, and it gave me the creeps.
