A Comment/Review on Julie Adams’ “Siblings”

Today, I decided to turn my attention to a relatively new author to the EMCSA, one whose stories I hadn’t read before. I chose “Siblings” by Julie Adams. Synopsis below:

A step brother and sister are hypnotized to have sex.

Some of you already know this but, for those that don’t, here’s a small disclaimer. Had that synopsis mentioned they were real brother and sister and not just step siblings, I probably would have skipped the tale altogether. Incest is one of those things that’s simply not my cup of tea. I can write snippets where the theme is present (some of my challenge pieces and even some photo-stories have incest at its core for example) but longer pieces of fiction is where my mind draws the line. I know it’s a pretty common fantasy and if you enjoy it, more power to you, but I don’t.

With that out of the way, let’s move on to the short story. In it, we meet Christy, a young hypnotist (she’s only 22!) who used to babysit Justin and Terra when they were younger, practicing her skills on them. The things she had them do fall into the stage hypnosis category like clucking like a chicken for instance but now that she’s older and so are they, in fact attending the same college together, the time is right for an extra dose of sexiness as the synopsis clearly indicates. In order to catch up with them, Christy invites them both to a party she’s organizing, alongside with some other people, and then the fun begins.

The story flows rather quickly and cuts right to the chase, sometimes cutting a bit too much, in my humble opinion. What I mean by this is the induction sequences are particularly short as the tale focuses more on the consequences of the hypnotic suggestions being used. You often see that in this type of literature and I’m certainly no stranger to some of its aspects but I believe I would have enjoyed the proceedings more if there was more to it in certain instances.

Regardless, the tale itself does what it sets out to do. Justin and Terra are no match for Christy’s abilities, even more so given their hypnotic history together and, after a series of brief hypnotic exchanges, they please their hypnotist without any shred of inhibition and then fuck themselves. The tale ends with the possibility that Terra got pregnant from his step brother because she used no contraceptives whatsoever and that’s it. All in all, pretty standard fare and, by that, I certainly don’t mean it’s bad. It’s not. I certainly enjoyed my time with it although I would have preferred to get to know the characters a little more, overall.

After finishing this one, I took a gander at some other works by this author and it’s possible I look at a few more in the future should I find something I like in the description but, for now, this is it. If you like something lighter with not that much plot and focused more on the aftermath of hypnosis than the hypnosis itself, you might enjoy this one through and through.

Thank you for reading.
