A Cake to Remember

“Alexandra?”
“Yes, General?”
“There’s something wrong with my mind.”
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t remember driving here today. In fact, I don’t remember anything that happened yesterday either. Isn’t that strange?”
“I suppose, but everyone has temporary memory lapses, Sir.”
“True, but not everyone works closely with a skilled hypnotist every day, so… what happened?”
“Nothing special.”
“Please don’t lie to me.”
“Okay. I may have put together a small birthday party…” she smiled.
“And I was one of your presents, is that it?”
“More like a candle…” Alexandra thought. She would remember that year’s cake forever… unlike him.
