You’re Not Here
Cameron sat in bed, looking at the woman hovering over his head.
“This isn’t real,” he said. “You’re not here.”
“You’re right, I’m not,” she purred, “but neither are you. Wake up.”
He smiled upon realizing he had been in his girlfriend’s arms all along.
“Ready to go again?” she asked, pocket watch in hand.
How this story came to be
Have you ever woken up from a dream, unsure if you really did that or if you’re still dreaming? I have. Several times in fact, and it happened again last night. I opened my eyes and clearly saw a woman hovering over me but when I blinked, she was gone, leaving me to think my brain was playing tricks on me. Either that or it was a ghost, and I’d rather not be haunted in my own place.
Anyway, that image led me to this piece, but I added some romantic and hypnotic undertones to it to make it work. What do you think?
