Would I Lie?
“Mary, have you seen my blue tie?” James asked.
“It’s on the table by the front door.”
He reached for it. Something was off.
“This doesn’t look like a…”
“It’s your tie. Would I lie?” she purred.
“Of course not,” he muttered, eyes going blank.
He placed the collar around his neck, happier than ever.
How this story came to be
One of the things I like to write about is people getting confused while hypnotized and seeing things differently, hearing things that aren’t there, etc. Funnily enough, I would hate to be confused like that in real life. Some ideas are just that, and only work in writing. This is one of them. Oh, and if you thought that “Would I lie?” is his trigger to go into a trance, you’re absolutely right.
