Ellen’s 25th birthday started with a bang. Literally.
The explosion happened when a radioactive meteor hit her car’s gas tank. Debris flew everywhere, and a piece of tainted glass hit her neck.
Where Death didn’t find her, Power did – a toxic desire to corrupt and enslave all men.
Happy Birthday, Overlady. The meek shall serve.
How this story came to be
As most of you know by now, I’m not too fond of superheroes stuff. I didn’t grow up reading comics, so the appeal never stuck with me. I do play with some ideas from time to time, but it’s not something that excites me that much.
The initial concept for this one started with the sentence “Where Death didn’t find her, Power did.” It was the first line that came to me and I loved it, but I didn’t know what it meant because I had no context for it yet. After that, everything else fell into place: explosions, radiation, etc… It felt like a comic book scenario to me and so I ran with it.
