“Derek, were you even listening to me?” Amanda complained.
“Of course, I was, dear!” he replied,
“Then you won’t mind repeating what I just said…”
“Not at all. You said that I’m your mindless, hypnotized slave and that saying these words out loud would seal my fate… Fuck!”
Amanda grinned. He was listening after all.
How this story came to be
I zoned out today. It happened just as I was logging into the site to update it. I was looking past the laptop screen when I suddenly started hearing my heartbeat in my ears. I focused on iy for a bit and… BAM! Altered state of mind, I guess.
When people zone out, they tend not to listen to what they’re being told, but the subconscious never really stops working. Derek just found out that the hard way.
