“You don’t care about me anymore!” Amy pouted.
“What are you talking about? Yes, I do!” Jack replied.
“No, you don’t appreciate what I do. If you did, you would let me hypnotize you!”
“You already hypnotized me fifteen times today!”
“True, but the record is thirty-two.”
Jake sighed and prepared to go under again.
How this story came to be
Everyone feels underappreciated from time to time – I know I do. It’s not something I enjoy, of course, but it’s a legit feeling and one that shouldn’t be ignored. Bottling up emotions never did anyone any good.
Now, there are occasions when the feeling isn’t true at all and people just evoke it as a sort of emotional blackmail. You’ve probably been on the far end of that too, so you know what I’m talking about. In the real world, I find people who use those sort of tactics annoying, but this is fantasy, and fantasy can be endearing. Who doesn’t love a good, manipulative bitch?
