Time to Sink

Harrison blinked and asked,
“How long was I under?”
“A minute,” Brenda replied.
“Huh? It felt longer than that..”
“I’m the hypnotist, not you. Trust me.”
“I do. Always,” he automatically replied.
“Good. Sink one more time for me, please.”
“Gladly.”
One minute, one hour, one day, it’s all the same. He’s still soundly asleep.

How this story came to be

We’re entering Daylight Savings Time this weekend. In about an hour, our clocks will go forward one hour. This night will be shorter but the day tomorrow will be longer. Losing time like this always felt weird to me and I suppose that will never change.

For many people, time also plays out differently when they’re in trance. This piece was inspired by that concept.
