“This is stupid!” Alex said as he scrubbed the bathroom floor with a toothbrush.
“Then why are you doing it?” Louise asked, clicking her heels.
“Because you told me to.”
“Do you always do what I tell you to do?”
“Only when I’ve been hypnoti… Shit!”
“Exactly,” she giggled. “Now, back to work.”
“Yes, Louise.”
How this story came to be
Do you always know when you’ve been entranced? Do you always know when you’re responding to triggers or suggestions planted in your mind? Some people are always aware of what’s going on while others never seem to realize it even after the moment is gone. I wanted to write something light that revolved around someone realizing what had just happened, and this was the first idea that came to mind. I think it’s funny, but your mileage may vary.
