There’s No Way!
“There’s no way she said that!” Matthew exclaimed.
“It’s a good thing I recorded everything then,” Abner retorted.
Abner played the recording. In it, Matthew’s girlfriend, Rita, described in detail how she was going to hypnotize and enslave him after their upcoming anniversary dinner.
Matthew started sobbing. Finally, all his sexual fantasies were coming true!
How this story came to be
I wanted to write something about secrets and this was the first idea that came to mind. The thing I like most about this one it how it subverts expectations with the last line. Until then, everything is pointing out to this being a terrible thing, but no! Sometimes, secret recordings are good.
