Spell… H-A-L-L-O-W-E-E-N 2026 – Day 10

Spell… H-A-L-L-O-W-E-E-N is back! Let’s enjoy another month of supernatural fun.

Everybody loves creepy imaginary friends… That includes you too. No, seriously! It does.

Mr. Ribbons

Most imaginary friends faded into the ether around puberty, but Mr. Ribbons had clung to Clara like a rancid grease stain, constantly begging for warm entrails.

“Rip his trachea out through his nose, Clara. Do it right now and let me wear his gristle like a party hat,” the eight-foot, polka-dotted rabbit hissed, leaning over the counter of the artisanal bakery. His patchwork ears grazed the glass display, leaving behind faint smears of spectral ectoplasm that only Clara could see and smell.

Clara kept her smile stapled onto her face. Her jaw ached with the effort. Across the marble counter, Bradley from marketing took another agonizingly slow sip of his oat milk cortado.

“So, anyway,” Bradley droned, oblivious to the monstrous, yellowed fangs hovering three inches from his thinning hairline, “my crypto portfolio is really more about disruption than currency.”

*Shut up, shut up, shut up.* Clara dug her fingernails into the fleshy part of her palm until the dull pain kept her grounded.

“Puncture his lungs with the tiny cake forks,” Mr. Ribbons purred, his button eyes gleaming with unhinged delight as he mimed a frantic stabbing motion with his claw-tipped paws. “Just a quick one-two in the soft meat between the ribs. Think of the lovely whistling sound he’ll make.”

“That sounds fascinating, Brad,” Clara lied. She slid his blueberry scone forward, fighting the visceral urge to grab the serrated bread knife beside the register.

Sometimes, she was strong enough to resist. Other times, Mr. Ribbons won. She continued smiling, hoping she didn’t have to wash blood off the floor again.
