The message on Bob’s phone read,
“You’re running an outdated version of Christmas. Update now to discover the new features.”
“Huh?” he muttered, pressing the button on the screen.
Unblinking, he saw his girlfriend wearing a red latex outfit and forcing him to lick her boots.
“Yeah, much better…” he smiled and accepted his fate.
How this story came to be
Am I the only one who doesn’t like the constant updates in today’s technological society? Phones, TV’s consoles, etc. Everything is connected and constantly being tinkered with with functions being replaced, new interfaces popping up, old things we’re used to being deprecated, etc. Change and evolution are important, of course, but things seem to be in a constant state of flux every day and it can get hard to keep track of what’s important.
Anyway, today, after my phone told me there was a system update waiting for me, I thought: what if said update changed reality as well? That’s how this piece was born.
