Obsolete Things

“Am I doing the right thing?” Lori asked.
“Yes. Trust me.” Her sister, Marge, replied.
“But I’ll miss it so much.”
“Obsolete things must be left behind, dear.”
“Okay.”
As she left the market with a new brainwashed husband, she promised to never forget the old one.
Her mind changed right after the first orgasm.

I’ve been slowly doing some Spring cleaning around the house whenever I have some time to breathe. Today, I finished organizing my bookshelves. This silly little thing came to me while I was doing that, don’t ask me why. Anyway, changes are important. We wouldn’t be what we are without changing and growing along the way. Lori needed a change and now she has one.

Stay Put

The house was on fire, but Martin didn’t move, glued to his seat, smiling. Suddenly, he heard the voice of his next-door neighbor, Ralph, calling him:
“Martin, move before it’s too late!”
“I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“My hypno-mistress told me to stay put until she returned. I can’t disobey.”
The flames spread across the walls…

I’ve always said that variety is the key to this challenge. Despite the limited theme, I’m always spicing things up, and finding new ways to tell a tale. Sometimes, they’re humorous, other times, they’re horrible. Today, I wanted something creepy and got this idea following a piece of news involving a fire that happened yesterday not that far from where I live. Luckily, there were no casualties.

Anyhow, morbid me started thinking: what if a highly suggestible person who had been told not to move suddenly saw himself in the middle of a fire? Reality tells us that person’s instinct of self-preservation would kick in, snapping him out of a trance but in fiction, we can go darker and this little thing came to be

Remember to stay safe when you engage in hypno-play for real, okay?

Patient Z

Dr. Madison examined patient Z’s latest readings.
“These can’t be right!”
“They are.” Her assistant, Danielle, noted. “It seems he’s developing immunity to the drugs.”
“I know. If this becomes the norm, we may have a slave uprising in our hands.”
“Then, we have no choice.”
“No, we don’t.”
No one ever saw him again.

Two creepy pieces in a row? Sure, why not? I do enjoy those sorts of things so… This piece came to me as I was preparing dinner. I had a bit of a headache going on after a long week so I took a pill for it and, for some reason, this popped up. I wish I had a better story as a source of inspiration but I don’t. My head still hurts a bit but it’s slowly subsiding. I’m sure everything will be okay, tomorrow.

Language is Easy

She said “Hello” and Jonathan was terrified. Never a beautiful woman had made eye contact with him, let alone greet him. What was going on?”
She said “Follow”, and he found himself trailing behind her, unable to resist.
She said “Slave” and he never worried about anything else ever again. Who says language is hard?

If you were thinking I was going for a third creepy piece in a row, sorry to disappoint you but not this time. Today was another “recovery day” for the most part though I also managed to tie up some loose ends regarding a few additional projects of mine as well. Seeing words are my “weapon of choice”, I love writing about them. Some people need a lot of words to understand things, while others grasp them with little. If you’re highly susceptible to trance states, the latter is probably true for you. I wrote this one thinking of such things.

What are your favorite words?
