Big Emergency

Jenna entered Marsha’s house in a hurry and said:
“I’m here. What’s the big emergency?”
“Brad’s not moving.” Her younger sister replied.
“He’s dead?”
“No. Hypnotized, but the freezing suggestion just won’t fade. What do I do?”
Jenna peeked inside their bedroom, saw Ron in the perfect fashionable position and muttered:
“How about a lamp?”

If after reading this one, you found yourself asking: “Two human furniture pieces in a row? Is that a new fetish of yours or something?”, the answer is no, it isn’t. The fact that you’re getting another piece that touches on the subject right after the last one, is because I had several ideas yesterday concerning the subject, and earlier today, I broke my nightstand lamp, or rather, my dog did.

We’ve been having some pretty low temperatures around here in the last couple of days, going down to negative Celsius even and after going to the courtyard and coming home shivering, Teo decided he needed my bed a.s.a.p while his tail decided to whip everything that came in its path so now I have a broken lamp in need of replacement. Luckily, no one got hurt in the process.

Anyway, this episode combined with the several ideas I had going on yesterday led me to think of something else concerning lamps and this came into existence. I think it’s funny but your mileage may vary.

Have you ever been turned into furniture via hypnosis? If so, did you like it or not? Would love to hear from anyone that has experienced that in the past so feel free to leave a comment on the subject if you wish.

The Jar

Caleb looked at the glass jar full of dollar bills and asked:
“What’s this for again?”
“Your subconscious knows the answer.” His wife, Felicia, replied. “One dollar for every time you find yourself believing I didn’t hypnotize you to be my servant for life, dear.”
“But you never did that!”
“Exactly.”
He opened his wallet.

Ever since the first day of 2021, I have had a swear jar in my house. I realized I was using too many expletives in my daily life, some of which for no apparent reason so I decided to try this to see how it goes. I’m European so no dollar bills here but I do add 10 Euro cents to the jar every time I say something I could have avoided saying. When the jar is full, I’ll use the money to buy something though not sure what just now. It’s too early to tell. And if you think 10 cents is not much, the truth is I already have €1.80 in the jar and we’re only on day 6 of 2021 so I really need to learn how to keep my mouth shut.

Anyway, looking at the jar today gave me this idea and I think it’s a good one. How many times have you not been hypnotized, huh?

Apocalypse Drone

The soldier was scrambling to find the proper words.
“Sir…”
“What is it?” General Jenkins vociferated.
“Mistress Oblivion’s drones have breached the last barrier.”
“What? How?”
“They have a tank, sir…”
“Fuck!”
“… with a hypnotic ray gun attached to it…”
“Fuck!”
“… which is now pointed at us.”
“FU…”
Every mind in the building went blank.

Impromptus are just that, impromptus. I had no specific idea in mind when I wrote this one and despite not being a fan of the drone concept overall, I did what I always do when an idea speaks to me. I listened to it and gave it form. Today, I also wrote another piece where there’s also a tank (although of a different kind) involved but that will be a part of next week’s Micro-Fiction Monday on my Patreon feed. Speaking of which, have you checked out the first edition yet? It’s free so what have you got to lose (other than your mind, that is?)

All Clear

Charles touched the empty shelves in his bedroom.
“I did it?” He muttered.
“Yes, honey. Backlog’s cleared! Congrats!” Francine exclaimed.
“Thanks, but now what?”
“Now, you can serve me properly.”
“Yes, dear.”
Francine led him away. The shelves were still full, but not to his hypnotized mind.
“See no games, play no games…” She thought.

If you’ve been following my writings for a while then you might remember me talking about my games backlog. It started more than a decade ago when I began buying more games than the ones I had time to play just because they were cheap and I would get to them eventually. Some, I did, many, I did not, a lot of them eventually collecting dust on the shelves, a few unopened.

I’ve been taking care of that little by little. Some, I played, others I sold, and a few more were given away to charities. As I write this, I don’t have a backlog anymore and I never will again. The last game I bought is being played little by little. I’m not going to buy anything new in the foreseeable future seeing work and the site keep me pretty busy every single day.

Anyhow, I wrote this thinking about said achievement. Naturally, given the subject matter of this challenge, I had to incorporate a bit of hypnosis and perception play and what you’ve read was the result of such incorporation. Cool, huh?
