Mistress Muse

Muse Talk

“So… it seems my writer wants more creativity, so you know what that means: more innuendos, more suggestions, more surreptitious control.”
“Sounds like a plan. What are you going for?”
“At least one shortie every day of the year to further his conditioning to me.”
“That shouldn’t be hard.”
“True. Look, he already wrote one.”

I’ve always been fascinated by Mythology and, those who know me, know that I talk about my Muse a lot. My creativity comes from many places but, whenever I can’t really explain its origin, it’s just easy to say My Muse was responsible. A Muse is like a Mistress. She’s in control. A writer is her servant and must obey. For this challenge, I wanted to play with that notion in a funny way and so two Muses kick-start it all. They’re recurring characters. You’ll read their shenanigans at the beginning of each month.

Repetition

“Repetition leads to indoctrination,” Sally muttered.
“What’s that?” Brandon asked.
“Repetition leads to indoctrination.”
“I don’t get it.”
“You will if you try it yourself,” she smiled. “Go on, say it: Repetition leads to indoctrination.”
“Hmmm… Repetition leads to indoctrination?”
“Again.”
“Repetition leads to indoctrination.”
“Again.”
“Repetition leads to indoctrination!”
His vision began to blur…

I’ve been told many times that repetition is one of the foundations of hypnosis and brainwashing for things become deeply ingrained in our psyche and that becomes the truth. Not that I believe in any of it (or do I?) but… hmmm…

Yes, Mistress, I will obey.
Yes, Mistress, I will obey.
Yes, Mistress, I will obey.
Yes, Mistress, I will obey.
Yes, Mistress, I will obey.

Mental Keys

“Honey, have you seen my keys?”
“Which ones?” she grinned, looking at his subdued erection.
“Tawnya, please! I’m already late and…”
“It’s Sunday, Bill. No work today except…”
She touched his forehead, unlocking the doors of his mind.
“How can I be of service?” he murmured.
Tawnya pointed at her feet.
“Let’s continue your training.”

Everybody misplaces their keys every now and then. I’m no exception and that particular phenomenon triggered this idea in me. (yes, pun intended.)

This is Not Hypnotic

The brochure Brad was given at the entrance was spearheaded by a variation of Magritte’s The Treachery of Images.
“This is not hypnotic” was displayed on the spiraling canvas but, if that was true, why was he feeling drowsy, powerless and so very, very sleepy?
Standing right next to him, Sheila, the gallery owner, smiled.

Art can be inspiring; art can be enthralling. The famous Magritte work mentioned in the text – and also featured above – was at the basis of this particular fetish variation. Fun, isn’t it?
