It’s Time
The paper Emmett was holding swirled with spirals, but he was the only one who could see them. Mistress Amber handed him a pen and said,
“You know what you must do.”
“Just like that?” he muttered.
“Yes, it’s time.”
He nodded and put a number to paper, the conditioning complete.
Slave 31 was born.
How this story came to be
It’s the 31st of May, end of another month of work, and I wanted to write a piece in which I included the number 31. This was the first thing that came to mind. Do you like your name? Wouldn’t you rather be just a number, instead?
