It’s That Simple
Thomas woke up from the trance, feeling drained. Emily immediately noticed something was off.
“Be honest, did you want to be hypnotized tonight?” she asked.
“No.”.
“Then why didn’t you say anything?”
“You wanted to put me under, and I wanted to please you. It’s that simple.”
Gently, she kissed his forehead, acknowledging his sacrifice.
How this story came to be
Sacrifice is a part of love. Or it should be. When you love someone, sometimes you concede on certain things, you do things you don’t really want to do just to please the other. Of course, too many sacrifices can lead to an imbalance that makes people miserable, and that’s not good. Like all things in life, there is a need for limits and moderation. You can be a bit selfish now and then because you have needs too, but sacrifice will always be there. The more you love the more you’re giving to give and when you can’t that’s alright as long as you’re taking care of yourself.
I wanted to write something gentle about the importance of sacrifice in a relationship and this was the first idea that came to me. Do you agree with what I just wrote?
