Fire Hazard
Paul had always said that Erin’s candles were a fire hazard, but now he knew the truth: they were a hypnotic hazard, too.
“Why are they flickering so much?” he asked, eyes fixed on the yellow flames.
“They’re not. That’s your mind falling… sinking… burning all resistance away…” she purred.
His eyelids began to flutter.
How this story came to be
I had a small fire in my house today. It was nothing serious, though. Basically, I dropped a lit match while I was trying to light my gas stove and it fell on a dishtowel which started to burn. I put it out instantly and my pets were nowhere near the kitchen, so the crisis was averted. To be honest, I don’t particularly like fire, which is also why I don’t light candles around the house unless strictly necessary. I do love to watch a flickering flame, and many people have fallen into trance looking at one.
Anyway, it’s no surprise I ended writing something revolving fire, right?
