February 2020

Only Forever

“Hey, Danielle. How goes everything?” Rebecca asked.
“All good. How are you?”
“Great. Is Ben still your hypno-slave?”
“Of course.”
“That’s surprising. Didn’t he get mad once he found out you tricked him with the contract date?”
“No, because he doesn’t remember signing it… just like you.”
“Oh fuck! For how long?”
“Only forever…” Danielle chuckled.

I started this daily challenge on January 1st, 2016. At the time, I didn’t actually believe I would be able to go past one month, let alone a year. More than 4 years and 1500 pieces later, I’m still going and the perseverance helped in the creation of this site so I’m not stopping.

Back in 2016, I wrote 366 pieces because it was a leap year. Four years later, February 29th drops by a visit once more and I thought it was funny to revisit the characters and events described on that one, and so I did. The original piece was this one:

Leap Slave

“You’re awfully cheery, today,” Rebecca mused. “What happened?”
“I convinced Ben to become my hypno-slave. He signed a contract set to expire on February 29th. It’s going to be a blissful year!” Danielle replied with a smile.
“Hmmm, but you do know such a date only happens every four years, don’t you?”
“Really?” she winked.

As you can see, Danielle remains as sneaky as ever. Some things never change, do they?
