The water was full of smiling faces. The mermaids wanted to play.
“Cover your ears, men,” the captain of The Victoria said. “Don’t let them enchant you.”
Too late! Their voices carried in the air, drawing mindless men to their deaths.
The captain was the last to go, blank eyes drowning in a red sea.
How this story came to be
In the mood for something with a creepy vibe. Didn’t really know what to write so I started improvising and this is what came to me. I I personally love the last line and the overall atmosphere but your mileage may vary.
