Something Strange

“Alexandra?”
“Yes, General?”
“I found something strange in my credit card statement.”
“Oh?”
“I bought you a car for Christmas.”
“An, but that’s not the strangest thing of the day.”
“Then what is?”
“That you already forgot this conversation.”
The General stared blankly while she smiled, keys in hand.
“Merry Christmas to me,” she smiled.

This a humorous late impromptu because I had another crazy day today. I mentioned yesterday my oldest dog is sick but failed to say exactly what’s wrong with her. She’s fighting viral pneumonia and since she has heart issues, it’s causing a lot of strain on her frail body right now. My mind has been scattered ever since she was diagnosed and I keep hoping she’s strong enough to fight this. Tomorrow, I’ll be skipping work to stay with her because I can’t stand the thought of not being around when she needs the most.

Anyway, I need to laugh to avoid thinking bad stuff and Alexandra decided to pay a visit to my mind to make sure that didn’t happen. Hide your credit cards, folks. She’s not done with this year’s presents yet.

Three Times

Lucy stared at her sister who now slept peacefully in bed.
“Is it over?” she asked.
“Yes,” their mother replied.
“What happened?”
“Brainwashing program glitched out, and she lost control. Almost exposed our operation.”
“Now what?”
“We hope it doesn’t happen again or…”
“Complete memory wipe,” Lucy gulped. Twice was enough, three times a nightmare.

I had a lot of trouble staying focused today. As I mentioned yesterday, I stayed home today to take care of my dog and it was quite a struggle to see her in distress despite the medication she’s on at the moment. For now, she’s calm, but the last few nights have been quite gruesome to bear.

Anyway, this dark little thing came to me after she fell asleep a few minutes ago and while I don’t feel up to snuff at the moment, the challenge continues. We’re only two weeks away from completing another year so let’s try to do so.

Right Tools

“You did it!” Diana exclaimed. “But how?”
“Anything is possible with the right tools, dear,” Samantha replied.
“What happens next?”
“Not sure. Let’s enjoy the show for now and decide later.”
“Just as long as I don’t end up like them…”
“You won’t.”
Diana nodded and watched the entranced naked Carolers belch out another song.

Random little thing that came to me as I found myself thinking about Christmas Carols. The original thought was to actually write a naughty one from start to finish but I didn’t quite get there (not today, at least). Perhaps when my head is a bit more focused and calm, overall. Until then, enjoy this snippet that begins with a song and ends with naked people outside who are bound to be uncomfortable with all the cold. Oh well…

Hypnotic Competition

Everything was a competition for Joan, including how long it took to entrance someone.
“I can hypnotize your boyfriend in five seconds,” she said.
“Yours will go down in four,” Camilla replied.
“I say three then.”
“Let’s make it two.”
“How about one?”
“Deal. Sleep!”
Both men closed their eyes and dropped to their knees.

While the piece mentions a “competition” it’s obvious that Joan and Camilla are actually working together on this one. Sneaky countdowns sometimes appear in my writings and one came to be on this one. It was improvised just now as I spent most of the day taking care of my dog and catching up on some work that had been neglected for a while. Feeling a bit drained right now but there are still some things I need to do before hitting the sack.

Do you like sneaky countdowns? What are your favorites? Feel free to share your experiences in the comments if you so wish.
