The Message

Karl’s e-mail called out to him. He saw the message, opened it, and the single word there brought him to his knees.
It was a cruel joke, a trigger shot into the future. Five years had gone by. She was not coming back.
As he struggled to stand up again, tears rolled down his eyes.

I’m not really here. This is a scheduled post. If technology doesn’t fail me, it should be posted at 3 pm where I live but I could have easily programmed it to only appear in a year or two, maybe more. That sort of “absent presence” is quite strange to me. Today’s piece deals with just that. It was written early in the morning (just like these words) but it will only become real to you at a predetermined time. Memories and triggers are like that too and, sometimes, things are just… sad. Unlike other kinky experiments of mine, this is more of a romantic, mellow affair, a message to end all messages. Tomorrow, things will be different. Until then.

The Wait

“Serve Obey Submit Surrender Now”
Todd heard the voices again. They weren’t getting louder, but softer, almost as if they were coming out of his own lips. Peering from the darkness of the room, Rachel was all smiles. The breaking point was her favorite moment and he was so close… She licked her lips and waited.

2017 was a great year for videogames. In fact, some will argue that it was the best year ever. I didn’t get to play as much as I used to in the past because I focused on more important things like my writing for instance but I still had some fun. The geek in me is quite happy that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is getting so much recognition seeing it’s my favorite series and all but there was so much going on that I think everyone deserves a round of applause. Whatever your Game of the Year turned out to be, I hope you had fun.

Today’s piece is a slightly humorous take on games and recognition. While everyone is busy with Game of the Year, Lucy has already selected her GOAT. That game is what makes Spell… B-O-U-N-D what it is so… enjoy and until tomorrow for the final entry in this 2017 55-words challenge.

Mistress Muse

The End (For Now)

“It’s happening.”
“Yes, it all comes down to this.”
“I can see his mind unraveling, new ideas emerging from the chaos.”
“New desires too that will keep him tethered to his true purposes in life.”
“To write…”
“… and to serve.”
“Being a Muse is great, isn’t it?”
“Yes, but being a mind-controller is even better.”

This is it, the final piece to wrap up two whole years of this micro-fiction challenge. Nothing felt more appropriate than returning to the genesis of it all with a piece about Muses, inspiration and a bit of self-referential observation.

Thank you to everyone that accompanied me on this amazing journey. I hope you’re looking forward to new discoveries just as I am.
