Bonus Story – Flow With Me

Bonus Stories are special features posted at the end of each month (depending on total pledges) and available to all patrons from the get-go. Bonus Stories are exclusive to my Patreon for the time being. While I may decide to release them publicly in the future, as I do with the regular Saturday Stories, for now, this is how things go.

Today, we have something on the gentler side of the things. It’s an FF piece.

The living room was filled with the golden glow from the late afternoon sun. Lorelei sank into the cushions of the worn-out sofa, her fingers playing with the rim of her glass of wine.

Sitting next to her, Anne watched the movie flicker across the screen. It was a comedy from the late 80s, a relic from their shared past, filled with over-the-top antics and raunchy jokes that once made them laugh until they cried.

Yet tonight, something was different. The humor seemed distant and a little hollow. All the jokes seemed clumsy and awkward. Lorelei saw Anne trying to force a chuckle out of her and shook her head. The movie had lost its edge. An uncomfortable silence fell between them.

“I think I’ve seen this one too many times,” Lorelei said, with a sigh. “It’s funny how things change. What used to be the most hilarious thing in the world now seems kind of empty.”

Anne nodded, her gaze lingering on the screen for a moment before she turned to Lorelei and smiled. “Yeah. I guess we’ve grown past some of that. Or maybe it’s just that we’re looking for something different now.”

Lorelei gazed at her lover, her eyes reflecting a gentle understanding. She reached out, brushing a stray lock of golden hair from Anne’s face. “I still love how we used to lose ourselves in those silly moments, though. It was comforting, in a way. But I want us to find new ways to feel that thrill, together.”

Anne’s eyes softened, her right hand grabbing Lorelei’s. The connection was tender and full of unspoken promises. They sat there for a while, surrounded by the quiet intimacy of the space they had made their own.

“Maybe we should just call it quits,” Anne said. “We’ve seen enough of the past already.”

Lorelei nodded. She leaned in closer, her forehead resting against Anne’s. Then, without saying another word, they both stood, stretching up and exchanging a look that said more than words ever could.

“I’m going to take a shower,” Anne said.

“I’ll join you,” Lorelei replied, already beginning to undress.

They moved toward the bathroom, their footsteps soft and synchronized. Lorelei turned on the shower, steam curling up in lazy swirls, filling the small space with a warm, inviting haze. She watched as Anne stepped in first, the water cascading over her shoulders, her skin shimmering in the shifting light. Lorelei followed, closing the glass door behind them, the sound of the water enveloping them in a comforting cocoon.
