Enigmatic Smile

Enigmatic Smile (55 Words Stories Challenge 2018 – Day 42)

“How can this be?”
“Good question.”
“A new Da Vinci doesn’t just appear out of thin air, Jameson!”
“And yet… These are definitely the Master’s strokes, Morris.”
“It looks like the Mona Lisa, same enigmatic smile and… tell me that’s a brush under her dress!”
Invisible to the eye, the time-travelling hypnotist thought: “It’s not.”

How this story came to be

The Da Vinci Code, the movie adaptation of Dan Brown’s controversial novel, starring Tom Hanks was on TV last night. I saw it once and didn’t pay much attention to it this second time around, or at least I thought I didn’t, because today I woke up thinking about the Mona Lisa and then I created my own work of art, or rather, she did. Not only she got to have a Master painter immortalize her, she also made sure he pleasured her accordingly. That’s the spirit, girl!  😉

You’ll get to know more about this mysterious time-travelling hypnotist that goes around riding the waves of Time in any way she sees fit, soon enough. This unnamed – for the time being – character, that first appeared in the first edition of this challenge back in 2016, has a lot more to tell me about her exploits, including things I never thought possible so I hope you look forward to additional revelations. If you liked this one, look what she did to Elvis earlier this year, for instance.

Seeing I want this year’s challenge to be more interactive than ever, I would love to hear your suggestions for future pieces, themes to explore, etc. Anything goes as long as the basic principles of the challenge are respected. It can be silly, it can be dark, it can be anything. If you want to play along, leave a comment below with your idea. I’ll make note of each and every one, try to incorporate as many as possible in the future, and give you full credit for the inspiration. Until tomorrow.
