Too Small of a Number
Too Small of a Number (55 Words Stories Challenge 2018 – Day 1)
Aubrey grabbed a pen and began to write.
New Year’s Resolutions
– Lose 15 pounds (minimum!);
– Finish the novel once and for all;
– Be hypnotized three hundred and sixty-five times;
“Too small of a number, don’t you agree?” Theresa cooed.
Yes. Always. There’s no greater resolution than a hypnotic woman’s will. Both pen and Aubrey sank.
How this story came to be
Hello, and welcome to Year 3 of this challenge. This is new, kind of. Last year, I “blogged” first and only then allowed you to read the shortie but not this time. I’m letting the stories speak for themselves this time around and my ramblings will come after.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that today’s entry was inspired by New Year’s Resolutions. We all make them, not all of us see them through. The first edition of this challenge back in 2016 started as one. I challenged myself to do it, went all the way to the end and decided to continue afterward. I’m still here, and still crazy enough to keep at it so… let’s.
You may have noticed that Aubrey is a unisex name. Every time I write one of these, I envision it as a woman having a bit of fetish fun with a man because that’s where my overall tastes lie. However, a friend of mine, namely the author robotunit8, specifically asked me today to ‘remember to slip a few in that a female sub can imagine can relate to her’, her exact words. I try to be as vague as possible when I can but some concepts don’t really work that way. This one does so Aubrey can be conceived as a man or a woman, it doesn’t really matter. What matters is that Theresa wins in the end, because that’s how things go, here in Spell… B-O-U-N-D. 😉
Anyway, that’s the gist of it. Nothing too fancy, I suppose, but I like adding a few notes to each piece to remind myself of the frame of mind I was in when I wrote them. The ‘problem’ with doing so many of these is that, after a while, things get to get pretty blurry and indistinct and these little snippets help crystallize the moment.
Seeing I want this year’s challenge to be more interactive than ever, I would love to hear your suggestions for future pieces, themes to explore, etc. Anything goes as long as the basic principles of the challenge are respected. It can be silly, it can be dark, it can be anything. If you want to play along, leave a comment below with your idea. I’ll make note of each and every one, try to incorporate as many as possible in the future, and give you full credit for the inspiration. Until tomorrow.
If you like Spell… B-O-U-N-D and my efforts and wish to see them both grow, please consider:
Thank you in advance.
