In 55 Words FD MC Challenge 2017 – Day 340
Today’s entry may or may not have been inspired by a friend of mine. She has this rather quirky tendency to confuse people’s names all the time. In fact, getting your name mixed up by her is part of the core experience of being her friend. I find it funny and rather endearing even if I keep “poking” her because of it.
Names are, of course, very important. A name, even though we can change it, gives us a sense of identity. Without one, it’s as if we don’t really exist. Playing with names and identity as a whole is one of the things one can do when there are hypnosis and mindfuckery involved, but some things are constant even in such situations.
Here’s a piece about forgetfulness and constancy with a little bit of humor sprinkled in-between. And yes, the title borrows from Shakespeare but only for the fun of it. Enjoy.
What’s In… A Couple of Names?
“I agree completely, Jackie.”
“Of course. Forgive me, Janice.”
“Jane! Geez, Paul… those hypnosis sessions must be really doing a number on you if you keep mixing up names like that.”
“Perhaps, but I never forget her name. Nor mine.”
“Yes. Her name is Mistress and my name is Slave, Jules.”
