In 55 Words FD MC Challenge 2017 – Day 239
Today’s piece was inspired by the image below.
Mondrian’s painting is entitled “Broadway Boogie Woogie” and is said to have been inspired by the freedom of New York. However, looking at it, it’s quite easy to simply perceive a series of intersecting geometric shapes. That’s my initial take on it as well but the beauty of interpretation is that it’s varied, open, and fluid.
My writing of the day touches upon the theme of subtle shifts in perception once more. It wasn’t created with erotic overtones in mind, it’s more of an exercise on inspiration itself and that’s all I’m going to say about it otherwise I’ll start rambling like there’s no tomorrow. Enjoy.
“I’m confused,” Henry confessed.
“Why?” Amanda queried.
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to be looking at.”
“That’s the problem. Thinking you’re supposed to do this or that. Look past it, past the colors, shapes, the past itself. The future is blank… just like you.”
He left the museum, smiling, a masterpiece in the making.
