In 55 Words FD MC Challenge 2017 – Day 1
Last year, I ran a challenge. I wrote a 55-words story concerning themes of female dominance, hypnosis and mind control every day of the year. This year, I’m doing it again, using the blog format to share some insights on how the pieces come to be. Some entries will be more detailed than others, others mere vignettes, but should give you an idea on how my creative processes work.
Anyway, let me tell you how the first entry of the 2017 short stories challenge came to be. I’ve always liked Roman Numerals as I was growing up and I wanted to use them as the basis for a story. The first day of a New Year felt quite appropriate for such an endeavor and so I went for it. Sadly, the English Language lacks ‘proper’ adjectives that begin with the letter X which is why the tale end up developing the way it did. Enjoy.
“Happy MMXVII?” Sven asked.
“Yes. I love Roman Numerals,” Greta teased.
“Pay attention,” she cooed. “M for Mesmerised and Mindless, X for Xhilarated, V for Vacant, and I for Influenced and Inveigled…”
“And yet you’re still drifting for me.”
“Yes, Domina,” he muttered. It was going to be another wonderful year of service.
